The military women portrayed are some of the protagonists of the cultural and institutional transformation, which has allowed the representation of the Nation and the Defense of the Homeland to be today a shared task between military men and women.
The Ministry of Defense has been one of the pioneer ministries in adapting current legislation on gender, with the aim of expanding rights and promoting equality among military personnel of the Armed Forces.
In the last year, the Directorate of Gender Policies of the Ministry of Defense has carried out activities to strengthen the institutionalization of gender policies in the military sphere, in addition to advancing in the monitoring of violence licenses for reasons of gender.
Likewise, work groups were held for the Mainstreaming of the Gender Perspective in the Armed Forces, created with the objective of integrating the gender perspective in the military sphere.
Within the framework of United Nations Resolution 1325, a working group was created for the implementation of the gender perspective in Peacekeeping Operations, COCOANTAR and emergency situations and humanitarian assistance. In addition, work was done on the dissemination of experiences in peace missions, in order to encourage the participation of women. Work was also done on the design of the Diploma in Humanitarian Action and Disaster Risk Management with a Gender Perspective in conjunction with White Helmets, which will launch its first cohort in 2023.
On the other hand, the annual publications of the Gender Policies Directorate are in development: "Gender Equity and Defense", and a special publication from Ministerial Resolution 1750/21.
In turn, the Ministry of Defense continues to work in a committed manner in compliance with the Micaela Law. Since the start of the training program, more than 15,400 agents have been trained.
The third cohort of the diploma was also carried out, carried out jointly with the UNDEF, "Mainstreaming the Gender Perspective in the Armed Forces", aimed at members of the departments, offices and gender liaisons of the Forces, with the aim of objective of providing tools and resources for the identification, treatment and registration of cases of gender-based violence in accordance with the current regulatory framework.
Along these lines, last year work was done on the incorporation of bibliography with a gender perspective in the subject programs corresponding to the NCO Training Plans of the three forces.
On the other hand, the Gender Office of the “Sargento Cabral” Non-commissioned Officers School of the Argentine Army was inaugurated and in terms of prevention and approach to cases of gender-based violence, the workshop on “Prevention strategies and impact mitigation” was held. in violence against women.
